Description
This is an introductory course that prepares participants to play the role of Emergency Information Officer for their municipality or ministry before, during and after an incident response.
Course Objectives:
o To equip the participants to act in the Emergency Information Officer (EIO) role for a municipality or ministry.
o Identify, explain, and exemplify the skills of a successful EIO, including information management, public speaking, and critical thinking
o Demonstrate the ability to fill and use an EIP.
o Demonstrate an understanding of how the EIO role may scale up or down
o Demonstrate an understanding of the EIO’s role within IMS, as well as what other roles they work closely with during an incident.
o Demonstrate interviewing and social media campaign skills.
